Privacy Policy — Fence Calculator + GPS Measure

1. Scope

This policy covers Fence Calculator + GPS Measure (Android package com.ludiccraft.fencecalc), published on Google Play by LudicCraft. It describes this app only. Our website and our other apps are covered by the LudicCraft privacy policy.

2. In short

Fence Calculator + GPS Measure is free and funded by advertising. To show ads, Google AdMob processes data about your device and your interactions with the ads. Section 3 lists exactly what is collected, as its Google Play “Data safety” section declares it. We do not sell your data, and the app asks for no account and no real identity.

The app contains:

  • no audience measurement or analytics;
  • no crash-reporting service;
  • no account, no sign-in and no online leaderboard.

3. Data collected (“Data safety”)

Here is exactly what the Google Play “Data safety” section of Fence Calculator + GPS Measure declares, category by category. Nothing else is collected.

  • App activity — App interactions: collected, and shared with Google AdMob. The ads shown, your clicks on them and how often they appear, reported to Google AdMob. Purposes: advertising, analytics and fraud prevention.
  • Device or other IDs — Device or other IDs: collected, and shared with Google AdMob. The Android advertising ID and the App Set ID, used by Google AdMob. Purposes: advertising, analytics and fraud prevention.
  • App info and performance — Diagnostics: collected, and shared with Google AdMob. Technical data on ad requests (latency, SDK errors, device state). Purposes: advertising, analytics and fraud prevention.
  • Location — Approximate location: collected, and shared with Google AdMob. Inferred from your IP address by Google AdMob to estimate your region (country, city), never an address. Purposes: advertising, analytics and fraud prevention.

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). You can ask us to delete it on our data deletion page. We do not sell your personal data.

4. What stays on your device

The app keeps on your device your measurements, your GPS tracks, your settings, the photos you add, what you import and whether the “remove ads” option is active. None of it is sent to us.

On Android, your device's own backup service (Android Auto Backup) may include this local data in the backup of your device to your Google account, like your other apps' data. That backup is yours: it is encrypted in your Google account, controlled in your device settings (Settings › Google › Backup) and invisible to us. If it is off, uninstalling the app deletes everything.

5. Advertising

Fence Calculator + GPS Measure shows ads provided by Google AdMob, our only advertising partner: no other ad network is built into it. To choose ads, limit how often they repeat, measure their display and prevent fraud, the Google AdMob SDK processes your device's advertising ID and the App Set ID, your IP address (from which Google infers an approximate region, never an address), technical information about your device (model, system version, language) and your interactions with the ads. Google processes this data under its Privacy Policy.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app shows you a consent form (Google UMP) and sends no ad request until you have answered it. If you refuse that information be stored on or read from your device, it sends none either: refusing prevents advertising instead of merely depersonalising it. If you accept that storage but refuse personalisation, the ads are non-personalised.

You can change this choice at any time from the privacy option in the app's settings, offered wherever the choice applies.

Elsewhere, ads may be personalised. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your device settings (Settings › Google › Ads).

6. Reminders

During a measurement, if your position has not moved for about ten minutes, the app shows a notification reminding you that the measurement is still running. These notifications are scheduled and shown by your device itself: nothing is sent to us or to Google, and no server is involved.

7. Your location

Fence Calculator + GPS Measure reads your device's precise location (GPS) only while you measure — recording a route or placing a point — or when you ask it to show your position on the map. If you let it record with the screen off, an Android foreground service does it, shown by a permanent notification; the app does not request the background location permission.

Your location is processed on your device and sent neither to us nor to anyone: your tracks stay on your device and only leave it through an export or a share you trigger. The map itself is loaded online (see “Online map”): when it follows your position, the tiles requested reveal the area where you are to the map provider.

8. Online map

The map of Fence Calculator + GPS Measure is loaded online, according to the base map shown: the street map from OpenStreetMap, the satellite view from Esri (World Imagery) and the relief view from OpenTopoMap. A tile request carries your IP address and the software identifier of our measuring apps (its User-Agent), never your GPS position; but, as with any online map, requesting a tile reveals the area displayed to the map provider. Displayed tiles are kept on your device for a while, as a browser would.

In satellite view, the app also asks Esri when the image displayed was taken, to show you the date: this request carries the centre of the map rounded to a hundredth of a degree (about a kilometre), and nothing else about you.

If you choose an earlier imagery year, the archive tiles come from Esri's Wayback service; the list of available years is read from a configuration file published by Esri, at most once a week, when you open that choice.

If you use the address search, the text you type and the app's language are sent to the OpenStreetMap Foundation's geocoding service (Nominatim) to find the place — only when you start the search, without your GPS position or any identifier.

9. Your photos

You can add photos to your measurements. Photos are chosen with the system picker, or taken by your device's Camera app, at your request: the app has access neither to your whole gallery nor to the camera itself. It keeps a copy of the chosen pictures in its private storage, on your device; they are never uploaded, to us or anywhere else, and only leave your device through a share or an export you trigger.

10. Files you open

Fence Calculator + GPS Measure only reads the files you hand it yourself, through the system file picker: a backup of the app to restore, or a GPX or KML track, or an archive of measurements, to import. It requests no permission on your storage; what it takes from them stays on your device and is sent nowhere.

11. In-app purchases

Fence Calculator + GPS Measure offers an optional paid option that removes the ads shown automatically. The transaction is handled end to end by Google Play Billing, and Google Play processes the data it needs — payment, receipt, refund — as an independent controller under the Google Privacy Policy. We neither receive nor store your payment information: on your device, the app only knows that the option is active.

12. Rating request

Fence Calculator + GPS Measure may ask Google Play to show its rating window (the Google Play In-App Review API). Google Play, not us, decides whether it appears. If you leave a rating or a review, you type it into Google Play's own window: it is published on the Play Store under your Google account, like any review, and processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy. The app receives nothing — not your rating, not your review, not even whether the window was shown.

13. Third-party services

The third parties involved are:

  • Google AdMob — advertising (Privacy Policy)
  • Google Play — purchases and the rating window, through the Google Play app on your device
  • OpenStreetMap Foundation — street map and address search (Privacy Policy)
  • Esri — satellite view, image date and archive imagery (Privacy Policy)
  • OpenTopoMap — relief view (about and terms)

No other third party receives data from the app.

14. Retention

  • Advertising data: processed and kept by Google under its own policies; we do not store the advertising ID.
  • The app's data (your measurements, your GPS tracks, your settings, the photos you add, what you import and whether the “remove ads” option is active): stored on your device only, as long as the app is installed.
  • Purchase receipts: kept by Google under its accounting obligations.
  • Messages to our support: kept 3 years after they are resolved.

15. International transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, in particular by Google. We make sure such transfers comply with applicable law, in particular through standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

16. Children

Fence Calculator + GPS Measure is not enrolled in Google Play's “Designed for Families” programme and is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has sent us personal data, contact us at contact@ludiccraft.com and we will delete it.

17. Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port and object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw your consent at any time — for advertising, from the privacy option in the app's settings. To exercise these rights, write to contact@ludiccraft.com or use our data deletion page. You may also complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).

18. Changes

Any change to what this app does with data is made here and in its Google Play “Data safety” section at the same time, before the version concerned is published. The date at the top of this page shows the current version.
